The sphere's x,y, and z dimensions must be the same.

Sphere: If the object was created with formZ's Sphere tool, the clipping area will be spherical. The cube may be rotated as well as moved and scaled. Cuboid: If the object was created with formZ's Cube tool, the clipping area will match the cube exactly.formZ's Rectangle objects work well for this purpose. The plane may be rotated as well as moved and scaled. Plane: If the object is a planar surface, everything in the direction of the plane's normal will be clipped.Render Boolean (Clipping Object): When enabled, object will clip other objects, according to the type of input object.Useful for technical illustrations and architectural renderings. When enabled, Maxwell the object will be excluded from clipping. Clip Hither/Yon planes: Normally, Maxwell enforces formZ’s clip hither and yon planes, if they are enabled in View Parameters.Global Illumination: When enabled, the object will not cast shadows or reflect light back onto other objects.Reflections and Refractions: When enabled, the object will not be reflected or refracted in other objects.Camera in Shadow Channel: When enabled, object will not be included in the Shadow channel.Camera: When enabled, the object will be invisible to the camera, but will still contribute to the lighting calculation (it will cast shadows, refract etc).Currently, the attributes of only one object may be edited at a time (a formZ limitation). Then, under the Attributes tab in the Tool Options Palette, select Maxwell Attributes.

To access the Maxwell attributes of a formZ object, select it with formZ’s Pick Tool. These options are useful for post-process compositing with other images. (Shown above.)Ĭustom Maxwell Attributes allows the user to set several additional rendering parameters for each object. So if you already have your feet wet in the program go for it.To edit an formZ object's custom Maxwell Attributes and Modifiers, select an object with the Pick tool, highlight the Attributes tab, then select Maxwell Attributes. Who needs global illumination when you've got your Burn and Dodge tool in Photoshop. Once you master making textures, and using photoshop for post production, the perks of 3d studio etc just melt away. In FormZ I can import a totally unclean Cad file put it on a layer, ghost it then get to work, with no slow down. Then if I do import it, I can hardly navigate around without the program chunking up. I have learned 3D Studio, Maya, Alias, etc All those programs just crash if I try to import an entire Cad file (uncleaned up). What I love most is that it can handle what ever you throw at it on a relatively crap computer. Boom my building is complete, ready for presentations, city submission, design panel, and then used as Marketing rendering for sales. Modelling up a floorplate from with a CAD plan as underlay is quick and efficent. I work moslty with large residential towers. I can generate a photoreal image in a matter of hours. You will just have to teach it to every employee you have (probably) And I must warn you that if you have to move the files from Formz into 3dStudio that 3DStudio is a surface modeler and Formz is a solid modeler and the geometries will have some hickups.

There is nothing wrong with choosing Formz as your firms platform. But if you want lights, materials, animations, and nurbs they can only go so far. I see Sketchup as the equivelent of Formz, a quick and easy to learn 3d modeler. I think that the reason that Formz has gone to the wayside is because it lacks some of the more powerful abilities to model complex abnormals surfaces and allows for better rendering w/ the options of animation.Īt present I have a good comand of 3d Acad, Formz, Viz/3dS, Sketchup. Formz Architects is a Device Trademark filed on 22 February 2020 with ApplicationID 4450531 in Kerala, Chennai IP Office. For our Architecture department they emphasized Viz 2005, and unreal tournament interfaces. I attend Georgia Tech currently and as a sophmore I took a class in Formz but the catch was that it was a class for our Industrial Design department. I am a fourth year undergrad, about to graduate and go onto grad school.
